Azerbaijan has Created Path for Jewish Language, Religious, Culture

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Huseyinov / Boris Sinanduyev, the Chairman of the Religious Community of Mountainous Jews in Red Slaboda village, Guba district, (173km north of Baku), stated that the Azerbaijani Government has created conditions for the Jews living in the village Krasnoya Slaboda of Cuba region of Azerbaijan to study in their native language, learn their culture, traditions and religion.

According to Sinanduyev, the Jews, who are not involved in any act of anti-Semitism in Azerbaijan, enjoy all the Country's constitutional rights. The history of the Jewish settlement in Azerbaijan has dated over 2,500 years.

The mountain Jews have been living in Krasnoya Slaboda for 280 years. The maximum number of Jews in this region was 15,000 in 1938-1939. Presently their number is about 4,000 Jews, with more than 20 nationalities residing in the Cuba region.
