Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / On 12 July the Chairman of the Anti-Torture Committee of Azerbaijan, Elchin Behbudov, met with the prosecuted former Department Chief of the Presidential Administration, Akif Muradverdiyev. According to Behbudov, the health of Muradverdiyev, who is being treated in the Medical Center of the Penal Service, is very critical. Behbudov said that Muradverdiyev has limited blood flow to his brain and his life is in danger. Behbudov stressed that he intends to appeal to the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, to take into consideration Muradverdiyev's health and release him.
Muradverdiyev is diagnosed with chronic insufficiency of cerebral blood flow.
Muradverdiyev was sentenced to six years imprisonment by the Court of Heinous Crimes. Muradverdiyev was charged with contravening Article 179.3.2 (appropriation of state property), Article 308.2 (abuse of post powers), Article 311 (bribery) and Article 313 (post falsification) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
An investigation is in progress on Article 28.278 (attempt to capture power) and Article 28.220 (intension to organize mass disorder).
