Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Aghayeva / The Azerbaijan Education Ministry has raised the issue urging the increase in scholarships for students studying abroad, Azerbaijani Education Minister, Misir Mardanov, reported on 24 August.

Over 3,000 Azerbaijani students are studying abroad. Most of them study in Turkey, Russia, China, Japan, Slovakia and other countries. Financing is held in three following directions: at the expense of their parents and separate persons, at the expense of international organizations and embassies operating in Azerbaijan, and at the expense of the State. "The main difficulty for students to study abroad is financial," the Minister said.

The students are dissatisfied with the low scholarship funding and are demanding an increase. "The scholarship fund is barely enough to pay for minor expenses. In order to live normally we have to work during our free time. But excessive tiredness has a negative effect on our studies," a student from Turkish Ortadogu Technical University, A. Mammadov, said. "We are waiting for Government's reply to the suggestion," the Minister said.

According to Mardanov, at the same time an increase in scholarships for the students of local Institutes and vocation schools is also possible.

According to the Ministry, the recent increase in scholarships (50%) was in February. Scholarship of post-graduates makes up AZN 65, A-students of master degree - AZN 55, student of master degree - AZN 30-45, A-students of bachelor degree - AZN 50, students of bachelor degree - AZN 25-40, A-students of colleges - AZN 25, college students - AZN 18-20, vocation schools and lycees students- AZN 18.
