Azerbaijan registers rise in number of accounts opened in Nakhchivan’s banks in 2021

Some 186,622 accounts were opened in the banks of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as of 2021, which is by more than twice or by 94,284 more than in 2020 (92,338 accounts), Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistics Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

According to the report, 175,338 out of the total number of opened accounts or 94 percent are active.

The banks and credit organizations of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic issued loans worth more than 235.3 million manat ($138.4 million) to legal entities and individuals in 2021.

GDP of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic increased by 2.4 percent as of 2021 compared to 2020, exceeding 3.01 billion manat ($1.8 billion). GDP per capita in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic increased by 3.4 percent compared to 2020 up to 6,524 manat ($3,837).

Moreover, the GDP of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic increased by 1.1 percent in 2020 compared to 2019 up to 2.9 billion manat ($1.7 billion).
