Some 66 hotels and 12 shopping and entertainment centers will be built in two years in the capital of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Tashkent Department of Tourism Development.
"Local and foreign entrepreneurs in 2021-2023 will invest in tourism projects in Tashkent a total of 9.4 trillion soums ($897 million), of which $739.5 million are foreign investments," the department noted.
It is planned to use these funds to implement 90 projects, of which 66 projects will be hotels (3,596 rooms, 7,050 beds), 12 shopping and entertainment centers, nine parks and three artisan centers. At the same time, the number of new jobs will amount to 6,102.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov said that in Tashkent there is still a need to build at least 10-15 hotels with a capacity of 120-150 rooms each.
In addition, the introduction of a tourist tax in the amount of 0.5 percent of Calculation Base Value (CBV), which amounts to 1,115 soums ($0.11), is being considered.
It was noted that it is planned to collect the tax from citizens and stateless persons living in Uzbekistan.
