Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan Highlight New Level of Bilateral Relations

Ukraine, Kiev, 22 May /corr. Trend Z.Novostviski / The Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan highlight new level of relations between the two countries

The Press Service of the Ukrainian President reported that such statements were made on 22 May during official dinner within Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Ukraine.

"It is very significant for the Ukrainian side that the relations of our states transfer to the status of strategic partnership. It means that those values and goals that we jointly determined are not only values of today, but also our action plan for future," said the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushenko.  

In his turn, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said that Ukraine and Azerbaijan became partners immediately after they re-gained their independence. "The documents signed today exactly specify our relations - friendship and strategic co-operation," he said, adding that it deals mainly with active political dialogue and mutual support within international organizations. 

Aliyev particularly stated that the co-operation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan is based on national interests of the two countries. He expressed his confidence that in future, these relations will strengthen and develop for welfare of the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani people.
