First Suspension Bridge in Azerbaijan to be Put into Operation

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 October / corr Trend E. Ismayilov / The first suspension bridge in Azerbaijan built in the centre of Zagatala city, on Talachay river, will be put into operation by the end of 2008, Azeryolservis open joint-stock company of the Azerbaijan Transport Ministry reported.

"Work has not been completed yet, as concrete pouring and asphalting should be carried out. The bridge is intended to be put into operation in November or December," a representative of Azeryolservis said. 

Consumer of the bridge with the width of 10 meters and length is 170 meters is Azeroylservis, which the executor is Tekhnikaservis Co, Movlud Gahramanov, chief of Road Exploitation Department (№17) of Zagatala region said earlier.

Preliminary cost of bridge project made up AZN 2 mln, but the estimated cost increased twice by force of additional expenses. The bridge is being constructed mainly by local specialists and reinforced concrete structure is fabricated in the Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev. The construction of suspension bridge over the Sheki-Zagatala road has been set up at the end of 2007.  

Zagatala region is located in north-west of republic, some 418 km of capital.
