Taking into account the seriousness of the crisis, the EU is considering a number of measures to solve the problem of its own energy security. This was in an interview with RIA Novosti said the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana prior to the meeting "troika" Russia - the EU, which will be held February 11 in Moscow.
According to him, the most important among them is a well-connected and functioning internal EU energy market, which would be more effectively distributed energy resources within the EU.
Solana stressed the need to further develop crisis mechanisms in case of temporary interruption of supply, such as a gas storage or more efficient use of oil reserves.
"Finally, it is necessary to advance the work on critical infrastructure, in particular, the junction of the power systems of EU member states, construction of terminals for the storage of liquid gas, as well as the southern gas corridor to the Caspian region", - he added.
All of these will be the subject of discussion at the upcoming EU summit on 18-19 March.
