The global financial crisis has not been felt in Azerbaijan, while it badly affected the economy of the United Kingdom, Mayor of the City of London, Ian David Luder said in Baku on July 21.

The global financial crisis has not been felt in Azerbaijan, while it badly affected the economy of the United Kingdom, Mayor of the City of London, Ian David Luder said in Baku on July 21.

"The global financial crisis has seriously affected the economy of the United Kingdom, the country is in a negative situation, but the crisis is not felt in Azerbaijan," Luder said at a news conference on July 21.

The mayor said the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan consider each other's long-term partners

"Britain is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in non-oil sector. We are proud that the UK is the largest investor in the Azerbaijani economy," Luder said.

The delegation, arrived with Luder includes 14 people representing the insurance, banking and other sectors of the economy. The main purpose of the visit is to search new opportunities for business.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom amounted to $174.1 million in January-May, the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee said. In the total foreign investment, the share of the British investment in Azerbaijan amounted to 45.8 percent (271.98 million manat) in June.
