National Fund for Entrepreneurship Development of Azerbaijan interested in increasing number of agent banks

National Fund for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED) under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan is interested in increasing the number of agent-banks, the executive director of the Fund Shirzad Abdullayev said on July 31.

"We aim to increase the number of agent banks because it increases the number of branches and provides easier access to funds for entrepreneurs," said Abdullayev.

According to him, up to now, none of the remaining banks applied to the Fund for membership.

In total, the Fund has 36 authorized credit institutions, of which four are credit unions and 32 bank.

In 2009 the Fund plans to issue preferential loans at 130 million manat, of which 74 million manat falls on budget, and 56 million manat formed by previously issued credit.

The rate on July 31 is 0.8043 AZN/USD.
