The first phase of the project on expanding the International Commercial Sea Port of Aktau (ICSPA) is under completion, the port said. The first phase envisages the construction of protective hydraulic engineering structures (pier and breakwater).
The expansion of the port is estimated at 41.6 billion tenge (about $276 million).
The port of Aktau received piers under the law on architectural, town planning and construction activities in Kazakhstan few days ago. Mol is a hydraulic protective structure in the form of a vertical wall in cross section in a form of trapeze, fixed one end to the bank, to protect the port from waves.
Construction of pier is one of the major segments of the first phase of the project and will ensure further safety of work on seabed deepening, construction of berthing facilities, loading areas, engineering networks and support structures of the expandable port.
Expansion of the Aktau port based on increased transshipment of goods through the port. In this regard, a promising growth in freight traffic in this direction should provide proper and timely creation of adequate port infrastructure, which will be able to ensure the necessary range of port services, to increase the amount of goods in accordance with international standards.
The project on expanding the Aktau seaport will double transfer of oil and dry cargo. Four oil berth, three universal berths for dry, ecological pier, water-protective and supporting infrastructure will be constructed on the port.
