The Azerbaijani Azergarant Sigorta insurance company intends to expand the list of its insurance agents, the deputy chairman of the insurance company Shukur Huseynov said.

"Currently, the company has already had seven licensed insurance agents passing certification at the Azerbaijani Finance Ministry," said Huseynov.

He said one more insurance agent will pass certification at the next examination of the Finance Ministry on Aug. 21.

Although the compulsory licensing of agents led to a reduction in the number of agents on the market who covered nearly 50 percent of the market portfolio, it also helped to improve the quality and professionalism of staff, Huseynov said.

The deputy chairman of the board also said that in the future, along with the development of business, the company also does not exclude possibility of creating a separate company of insurance agents.

"So far, the company offers its services to customers through branches and offices, both in Baku and the regions of the country," said Huseynov.

The mandatory certification of insurance agents is conducted in accordance with the law on "Insurance activity", adopted in March 2008.

Azergarant Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) operates on the insurance market since 1993 and has 26 kinds of insurance services, four of which are mandatory. The company's authorized capital for the second quarter amounted to 1.8 million manats and profit - 237,100 manat.

The company's active branches is three and offices - two.
