In 2008, the losses of the Araks aluminum company amounted to 56 billion tuman ($55 million) and we expect this figure to reach 80-100 billion tuman (about $80-$100 million) in 2009," Chairman of the Company Board, Isa Rzai, said, the Iranian İLNA news agency reported.
According to Rzai, currently the Araks aluminum company has about 4,000 employs. The company is still operating so that not to leave the employees jobless," Rzai said.
Rzai asked the Iranian government to help the company to continue operating, saying that without the government's support the plant will be closed because of the economic crisis.
