The U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Azerbaijani government will start a new project on the socio-economic development of regions in six months, USAID Country Coordinator Scott Tailor said.
"This project aims at development of the country's regions and does not include Baku," Tailor said. "I hope we will begin to implement it in six months."
According to Tailor, $4 million will be issued for the implementation of the project and this amount will be evenly divided between the USAID and the Azerbaijani government.
The project will also promote the country's non-oil sector, Tailor added.
The USAID and the Azerbaijani government signed a Memorandum of Understanding a month ago.
