ISO chooses Baku to hold first seminar in South Caucasus

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents accelerated work to establish national system of accreditation, head of the state committee, Ramiz Hasanov, said in an interview posted at the website of ruling New Azerbaijan party.

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents accelerated work to establish national system of accreditation, head of the state committee, Ramiz Hasanov, said in an interview posted at the website of ruling New Azerbaijan party. 

"All department of the State Committee operate actively to establish normative base and bring it in accordance with the international standards," Hasanov said.

He said that the committee has already designed documents to create fundament for national accreditation system. Major items of accreditation system, sign of accordance of accreditation system and rules of register are among them. The State Committee also plans to introduce the international standards İSO/İEK 17025 (major requirements to test and calibration  laboratories) in this sphere.     

"Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization closely cooperates with the international organization for standardization," Hasanov said.  

He said that ISO workshop first in South Caucasus will be held in Azerbaijan on October 21-23.

"'Rapid growth and achievements of Azerbaijani economy increase the organization's interest towards Azerbaijan. It is important to introduce and use the international standards for stability and acceleration of export-oriented country. The Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization operates on this regards," Hasanov said.  

Presently, major factor is to determine international standards for different branches. About 300 national standards were prepared by the institute.

"Major goal is to assist production process and develop economy based on consumers' requirements," Hasanov said.

Products conformity with technical regulations, standards or economic agreements is confirmed by the relevant agencies in technical regulation, including agencies on certification, testing laboratories and other organizations. The society and business must be sure in competence of those organizations provided with the accreditation procedure. The accreditation confirms the competence of the organizations carrying out work on conformity and serves to increase consumer confidence in the products and service they purchase.
