Deposits placed in Georgian commercial banks exceed 3bn lari

The amount of deposits placed in the Georgian commercial banks as of November 1, 2009 remained at 3.2 billion lari ($1 = 1.68 lari).

A source at the National Bank of Georgia told Trend that in November there was a decrease of current accounts for business and commercial sectors by 4.2% and time deposits - by 1.7% as compared with the previous month.

Dollarization rate of deposits as of December 1, 2009 amounted to 71.4%, 1.6 percent points less than November 1. The weighted average annual interest rate on deposits was 9.2%, including deposits in national currency - 10.6%, while deposits in foreign currencies - 9.1%.

The share of dollars in deposits in foreign currency amounted to 77.1%, and euro - 21.9%.
