Trade turnover between Switzerland and Azerbaijan increased by approximately 26 percent in 2009, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan Niyazi Safarov said at the meeting with the Swiss delegation, who is in Baku, the Ministry said.
The meeting between Switzerland-Azerbaijan cooperation group, and rrepresentatives of Swiss private energy companies operating in the country's energy sector, Representatives of Azerbaijan Investment Company and Export and Investment Promotion Foundation, (AZPROMO) was held May 12 in the business center.
Safarov said that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to development of cooperation with European countries including Switzerland. He emphasized that Switzerland was one of the countries that made great investments in Azerbaijan`s non-oil sector. According to him, our countries have great potential to expand economic cooperation even more.
Walter Steinmann, Swiss State Secretary of Energy and Director of the Federal Office of Energy praised the economic development in Azerbaijan. He expressed hope that "relations between the two countries will continue to develop."
