Azerbaijan has automated a pension payments system by 98 percent, State Social Protection Fund Public Relations Department head Elman Babayev told Trend today.
"In January-April, the number of pensioner-receiving benefits on plastic cards increased by 6,230 people," Babayev said.
According to the official, just as of April 1, roughly 1.125 million pensioners receive their pensions on plastic cards, which is 98 percent of the total number of pensioners.
According to Babayev, the number of indviduals receiving pensions via plastic cards in rural areas increased by 4,903 people in January-April. According to the fund's statistics, 95.9 percent of rural pensioners are provided with credit cards.
"All pensioners who live in the country's cities are provided with plastic cards," Babayev said.The pension automation system is realized based on a state pension insurance system development program covering 2009-2015. The program was approved by the president Dec. 30, 2008.
