34-fold rise in exports from Aras FTZ

Exports from Aras Free Trade Zone in the first five months of the Iranian calendar year (starting March 21) have risen over 3,445 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

IRNA news agency quoted the director of Aras FTZ organization as saying, "Exports from Aras Free Trade Zone are aimed at countries such as Azerbaijan, Germany, Armenia, Turkey, Russia, Iraq, Georgia and Nakhjavan."

Abbas Ranjbar added that exports of goods manufactured in the FTZ had increased 45 percent in dollar value during this period.

Meanwhile, he went on to say that during the same period the dollar value of imported goods decreased by 17 percent compared to last year.

In regard to the transit of goods he said that statistics show a 32 percent rise during this time span.
