Azerbaijan interested in increasing agricultural export to Poland

The Azerbaijani side expressed interest in increasing exports of fruit and vegetable canned products (such as pomegranate juice and narsharab), olives, nuts, cotton and other agricultural products to Poland within the fourth session of the Azerbaijan-Poland joint commission on Economic Cooperation held in Baku, the government said.

The Polish side expressed its readiness to provide Azerbaijan with expert assistance in the field of agriculture and rural development, including establishing a system of agricultural consulting, developing ecological methods of farming, environmental protection and food safety, agro-tourism, creating an effective system of knowledge sharing in agriculture, intensifying multifunctional rural development. The assistance will be provided after getting the funds for implementing the above-mentioned spheres within the Polish program or the EU's funds, including those intended for implementation of projects "Eastern Partnership".

The Azerbaijani side expressed its readiness to receive the expert assistance from Polish institutions of the agricultural sector and give their suggestions on the topics of projects.

The Commission approved two projects. The project "Principles of agricultural space in the mountainous regions of Azerbaijan, endangered by eruption, using GIS techniques will be implemented within Polish development assistance program.

The Commission has also chosen proposals from Spain and Poland to introduce a twinning-project "Support to the national veterinary services in establishing a national system of animal identification and registration of farms". Implementing of this project will contribute to improving food safety in Azerbaijan.
