The Azerbaijani Franchising Association (AFA) will assist in the opening of 10 new brands in the country, AFA head Elshan Musayev said.
"The AFA will develop further on the basis of these new brands," he said. "Most of the brands are in areas such as fast food and the restaurant business."
However, Musayev said, the association's main goal is not to attract new brands to Azerbaijan, but rather to aid the development of Azerbaijani franchisees.
"We support the concept of promoting the Azerbaijani restaurant business and selling our own franchises abroad in the future, thus spreading the popularity of Azerbaijani cuisine," he said.
Musayev said franchising can help to develop small and medium-sized businesses in Azerbaijan through trainings and seminars, which are critical for employees buying a franchise.
The AFA began its activities in 2007. It aims to establish Azerbaijani franchise companies to facilitate their integration into the regions and abroad to attract funds to the country.
