WB supports enhancing capacity of Azerbaijani State Labor Inspectorate

The first year of the Enhancement of the Capacity of the State Labor Inspectorate (ECSLI) project (until August 2011) proposals will be developed for reviewing the occupational safety and health legislation and the statute and organizational structure of the State Labour Inspectorate (SLI) under the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry, the World Bank (WB) reported.

The first year of the Enhancement of the Capacity of the State Labor Inspectorate (ECSLI) project (until August 2011) proposals will be developed for reviewing the occupational safety and health legislation and the statute and organizational structure of the State Labour Inspectorate (SLI) under the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry, the World Bank (WB) reported.

The ECSLI project started on July 2010 in order to support and guide the Azerbaijan State Labour Inspectorate in its strategic plan meets international requirements for Labour Inspection.    

The project financed by the World Bank and the Republic of Azerbaijan, is carried out by an international consortium lead by AETS (France), with four (4) partners: GVG (Germany), BILSP (Bulgaria), BAD (Germany) and APAVE (France). The team of international experts is lead by Paul Huijzendveld (the Netherlands), former general director of the Dutch Labour Inspectorate.

In the periods 2011-2013 the development of SLI policies, operational procedures and ethical behavior guarantees, the training of inspectors and the requirements for laboratory equipment are subject of the project.

The objectives of the ECSLI project are enhancing the capacity of the State Labour Inspectorate by reinforcing OSH legislation and standards, creating adequate conditions for social dialogue, strengthening the capacity of the SLI on an integrated and preventive approach, modernizing the laboratory facilities, promoting OSH at the workplace and raising public awareness.
