Number of socially insured foreigners rose by 28% in Azerbaijan

The number of foreigners registered in Azerbaijan via individual registration system in the Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) increased by 28 percent, the Fund reported today.

The number of foreigners registered in Azerbaijan via individual registration system in the Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) increased by 28 percent, the Fund reported today.

"The number of foreigners registered in the private registry system has increased by 28 percent or 2, 228 people, having made up 10, 195 people as of Jan.1, 2011," the fund reported.

The foreigners from 92 countries passed registration in the country and the majority of them are Turkish citizens - 5,911 people.

The Georgian citizens ranked the second - 1,358 and the Russian citizens ranked the third - 588.

According to the SSPF, in private registry system were registered citizens of Iran - 337 persons, India - 250, China - 145, Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - 106, Ukraine - 87, Pakistan - 84, Malaysia - 80, Kazakhstan - 67, Uzbekistan - 73, Turkmenistan - 55, Germany - 77, and the U.S. -55.

The private registry system is the organization accounting information on each insured person to provide them pension and other rights in the sphere of social protection in accordance with the laws of their country.

The Azerbaijani President signed a decree on the implementation of the Law "On a private registry system in the state social insurance" in December 2001.
