In January, the volume of construction work in Azerbaijan increased by 11.6 percent compared to the same period of 2010, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan said on Wednesday.
Some 62.7 percent of the total amount of construction work accounted for new buildings, reconstruction and expansion work, 24.3 percent - major repairs, 5.1 percent - current repairs, 7.9 percent - other construction work, the committee said.
The volume of construction work conducted by state-owned enterprises comprised 41.8 percent, while private sector - 58.2 percent.
In 2010, 65,500 people were involved in the construction sector of Azerbaijan. During this period nominal wage level in the construction sector amounted to 505.7 manat, which is 12.4 percent more than 2009. Nominal wage levels in major and small construction companies during this period amounted to 530 manat.
The level of wages in the sphere of construction of buildings increased by 16.9 percent compared to the same period of 2009 and amounted to 543 manat, wage on civil construction works amounted to 319.4 manat increasing by 3.3 percent, in the specialized construction by 1.9 percent to 562.4 manat.
