Foreign investors should consider investment opportunities in the agrarian sector of Azerbaijan, Deputy Director of the German Office for International Cooperation in Azerbaijan GIZ Mark Beckmann said at the Azerbaijan Investors Summit-2011.

He said agriculture is developing at a good pace in the country.

"In recent years, Azerbaijan's agricultural sphere has demonstrated stable annual growth at an average of four percent," Beckmann said.
Azerbaijan has nine climatic zones, which creates favorable conditions for development in this field, he added.

Beckmann said Azerbaijan has favorable investment opportunities. The low level of external debt and a large amount of strategic currency reserves contribute to macroeconomic stability, which in turn affects the increase of its investment attractiveness.

"Azerbaijan is in the process of accession to the WTO, and turning the country into a member of this organization will further enhance opportunities for foreign investors, and will contribute its international integration," he said.

The summit, which runs in Baku on March 2-3, brings together 130 Azerbaijani companies and 50 foreign investors.
