The latest figures and statistics revealed that not just the different members of the EU, but the US itself has boosted trade and economic transactions with Iran during the last year despite the UN sanctions and the extra unilateral embargos imposed by the US and its European allies against Iran, reported Fars News Agency.
The value of Iran's trade exchanges with the members of the European Union increased to 12.7bln euro in the second half of 2010 despite all the western sanctions and the extra embargos imposed by the EU against the country over the latter's peaceful nuclear program.
According to a report citing Eurostat website, the recent statistics show a 7% increase in trade exchanges between Iran and 27 members of the EU in the second half of 2010 compared with the first half of the same year.
The report also mentioned that the trade exchanges between the two sides were worth 11.8bln euro in the first half of the last year while the number increased to 12.7bln euro in the second half of 2010.
Meantime, EU's imports from Iran were worth 6.9bln euro in the second half of 2010, which indicated a 12% growth compared with the first half of the same year.
Despite the hostile policies and moves of the United States and its European allies, Iran has shown a promising trend of growth in area of economy.
Iran is under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions for turning down West's calls to give up its right of uranium enrichment, saying the demand is politically tainted and illogical.
Yet, last year the US and the European Union approved a set of extra unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program, mostly targeting the country's energy and banking sectors, including a US boycott of gasoline supplies to Iran.
But the US fuel embargo on Iran proved futile after Iran boosted domestic production, attained self-sufficiency and even exported gasoline.
Iran says that western sanctions and pressures have only consolidated the Iranians' national resolve and encouraged them to reach self-sufficiency in many economic areas, including gasoline production.
Meantime, Head of Iran's Customs Office Abbas Me'marnejad said on Tuesday that the value of Iran's trade exchanges has amounted to $82bln during the last 11 months, showing growth both in imports and exports.
"The value of Iran's exported goods, excluding gas condensates, has amounted to $23.8bln, and $29bln including gas condensates, during the said period," Me'marnejad stated, saying that the figures show a 25% increase compared with the same period last year.
The value of Iran's trade exchanges with the US increased to $16mln in January 2011 despite all the western sanctions and the extra embargos imposed by the US against the country over the latter's peaceful nuclear program.
The latest figures and statistics of the Census Bureau said that despite the US-engineered sanctions imposed on Iran, the United States exported $15.9 million worth of goods to the Islamic Republic in January.
However, Iran only exported $100,000 worth of goods to the United States in the month.
The volume of US exports to Iran stood at $31 million during the corresponding period last year, and Iran exported $6.3 million worth of goods to the US in January 2010.
