The relevant legislation in Azerbaijan should be brought into line with European standards to create a modern address registry in the country, a source in the government said on Wednesday.

"The appropriate steps have been already taken in this direction. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev approved "Rules of address registry and assigning address to real estate". "But some amendments should be made to these rules," the source said.

He said the address must have exact geographic coordinates. In addition, the coordinates of each entrance and porch should be determined.

"Since street names and addresses change frequently, streets, avenues and other transport infrastructure will be assigned codes in order not to change the documentation and information in database every time," the source said.

This will allow identification regardless of street's name. In the CIS countries, this experience is not applicable. All amendments will correspond to the requirements of INSPIRE directive.
