Ireland's debt downgraded to junk

Ireland's bond rating was cut to non-investment grade on Tuesday by Moody's rating agency, making it the third euro-area country lowered to junk status after Portugal and Greece, dpa reported.

The Irish rating was lowered to Ba1 from Baa3, Moody's said in a statement. Portugal's rating was cut four levels to Ba2 on July 5 by Moody's.
