As of Aug.1, 4.429 million payment cards were in use in Azerbaijan. It exceeds the similar index in July by 0.8 percent, and 6.6 percent compared to the same period of 2010, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said.
Total turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS-terminals as of Aug.1 amounted to 645 million manat, while total number of operations - 4.32 million.
The number of operations with debit cards hit 4.104 million in this period. Total amount of operations with debit cards hit 584 million manat.
Some 3.889 million operations were held with debit cards through the ATM worth 553 million manat and 117,000 operations through the POS- terminals in amount of 18 million manat.
The number of operations by credit cards hit 220,000 worth 61 million manat.
A total of 84,000 operations worth 24 million manat were carried out by credit cards through the ATM and 28,000 operations in amount of 13 million manat through POS-terminals.
As of Aug.1, 2,002 ATMs were in use in the country. Some 1,112 ATMs are located in Baku, while 890 - in other cities and regions.
During the reporting period, the number of POS-terminals totaled 11,272 units,10,306 of which are located in Baku, while 966 units in other cities and regions.
The official exchange rate is 0.7869 manat to $1 on Sept.30.
