Uzbek banks' total assets up by 30 percent in Jan.-Sept

The total assets of Uzbek commercial banks increased by 29.4 percent in January - September 2011 and amounted to 26.843 trillion soums compared to 2010, the Central Bank of the Republic said on Monday.

The total assets of Uzbek commercial banks increased by 29.4 percent in January - September 2011 and amounted to 26.843 trillion soums compared to 2010, the Central Bank of the Republic said on Monday.

The total loan portfolio of banks increased by 33.6 percent since early 2011 - up to 15.415 trillion soums. The aggregate bank capital increased by 13.5 percent in January - September - up 4.655 trillion soums as of October 1, 2011.

The total amount of balances in bank deposits amounted to 18.011 trillion soums (data on total deposits for 2010 are not available). The balance of deposits in banks increased by 38.4 percent - up 6.151 trillion soums.
The Uzbek banking system is represented by 30 banks, including three state, five - with foreign capital, 11 - joint stock and 11 - private.

Total assets of Uzbek banks increased by 32.1 percent and amounted to 20.739 trillion soums in 2010 compared to 2009, the total loan portfolio - 35 percent up to 11.539 trillion soums, the aggregate bank capital - by 36.2 percent - up to 4.1 trillion soums.

The official exchange rate is 1.757.83 soums per $1.
