Private companies to allocate roughly $1 billion annually to R&D in Kazakhstan

Private companies operating in Kazakhstan will annually allocate roughly $1 billion to research and development works within the country, the deputy chairman of the Science Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science Erbol Suleimenov said, Prime-Minister's press-service reported.

Moreover, according to Suleimenov, Kazakh national companies exploiting subsoil reserves of the country will allocate at least one percent of annual income to research and development works.

"The tasks set by the Head of the State in the annual address to Kazakh people, envisages an increase in budget science research funding and stimulating of private investments in this sphere," Suleimenov noted.

A total of 27 billion tenge ($181.55 million) was allocated to the scientific research and development work in 2011. According to Suleimenov this index will hit 42 billion tenge ($282.41 million) in 2012.
