Turkmenistan to reconstruct railways

According to the general plan of the Turkmen railway transport development for 2012-2016, recently approved by the presidential decree, renovation work will be conducted in some sections of the railways, Neutral Turkmenistan reported.
It is planned to conduct a partial overhaul of the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi-Bereket railroad.
It is also planned to conduct the overhaul of Turkmenabat-Zerger-Atamurat-Darya steel main line. The communication and power supply systems will be modernized and fiber-optic cable connection will be laid.
Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat and Talimarjan-Amu-Kelif main lines will be reconstructed.
These measures will ensure increase in the efficiency of rail transport, article reports.
The construction plans for new infrastructure of the industry are outlined.
Thus, a number of stations will be built along the line of Gyzylgaya-Bereket-Etrek steel main line within the first two years of the plan implementation, Atamurat-Imamnazar railway will be constructed and the depot for locomotives and passenger carriages with the service center will be build in Ovadandepe.
The depot for locomotives and carriages will be put into operation at Tuver and Serhetyaka stations in the near future.
