The Georgian Railway will upgrade its trains, the first being transported from China to the port of Poti.
The Chinese company won the tender within the investment programme and has built five trains meeting international standards for Georgia. After testing the first train will begin transporting passengers in three weeks.
"The Georgian Railway announced an international tender in 2010 to purchase the trains," spokesperson for the Georgian Railway Irma Stepnadze told media today. "The Chinese company is a world leader. It built five comfortable trains for Georgia."
She said that all the Georgian Railway rolling stock will be upgraded by the end of the first half of 2013.
