Iran has exported $1.6 billion worth of technical and engineering services in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20, showing a 20 percent decrease year on year, IRNA quoted Alireza Kadkhodaii as saying.
The construction sector accounted for the lion's share of technical and engineering exports, he said without elaborating.
The economic crisis in the West is a welcome opportunity for Iranian companies to expand exports of services, he noted.
Iran has exported over $20 billion worth of technical and engineering services over 2001-2011, the head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) has said.
Hamid Safdel added that the exports were mainly related to power, industry, road, and petrochemical sectors.
