The capitalization of the banking sector in Azerbaijan increased by 5.3 percent in the third quarter of 2012 and by up 0.07 percent compared to the third quarter of 2011, amounting to 2.346.6 billion manat as of October 1.
According to the statistical report, published on the website of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), there were 39 banks with the capital exceeding 10 million manat in the third quarter, remaining at the same level during the quarter, decreasing by one bank compared to the second quarter of this year, and by three banks compared to third quarter of 2011.
The share of this category of banks in the total capital of all banks in the country in the third quarter was 99.1 percent compared to 99.4 percent for the third quarter of last year.
Capital of two banks (with a weight of 0.7 per cent) was formed in the range of 5 million manat to 10 million manat, one bank (0.2 percent) - from 3.5 million manat to 5 million manat, in another bank - to 3.5 million manat.
There were 43 banks in Azerbaijan in the third quarter of 2012: 42 commercial banks and one state bank.
