Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed interest in the progress made in construction of mining and processing complex for production of potash fertilizers in the village Garlyk of Lebap region during the government meeting, local media reports on Tuesday.
"Conducting construction work at the highest level is of high importance," national TV channel Altyn Asir quoted Turkmen leader.
Berdimuhamedov instructed to keep under control all issues related to creation of favorable conditions for work and rest on plants being built in Garlyk village as well equipping them with advanced technology and timely commissioning.
This company, the cost of the first phase of which is estimated at over $1 billion, is being constructed by public corporation "Belgorkhimprom" (Republic of Belarus) since August 2009. Its capacity - 1.4 million tons of fertilizers per year.
Enactment of Garlyc GOK, construction of which is considered for five years, will create more than a thousand jobs.
Production of mineral fertilizers is one of the most profitable industries. Main factors are increase in world population, demand for grains and oilseeds for biofuels.
Besides increased productivity, potash fertilizers increase the qualitative characteristics of cultivated products: increase the resilience of plant diseases and fruit firmness during storage and transport.
