Preservation of the principle of tolerance in the age of globalisation is important for France as well as for Kazakhstan, Laurent Fabius stated in his interview to Trend.

"Specificity of French identity is that it is based on the principle of tolerance, joint participation of all citizens in public and social life without any exclusion on the basis of origin," Fabius said.

He pointed out that France is traditionally a country of immigration. "One of its strong sides is its openness to the world. During its history France has been shaped through assimilation of introductions from outside including those from its former colonies," he said.

He added that it is not time for a split between French citizens independently on their origin
"On the contrary, it is time for unity. Priorities of our policy are integration based on the principles of equal possibilities, struggle against discrimination and equal access to employment," he summarised.

As reported previously, today is the start of an official visit of the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent Fabius in Astana. Afterwards the minister will visit Tashkent and Ashkhabad.

During the visit Fabius will first meet with President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Then he will take part in negotiations with Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrisov.
