Iran will inaugurate its second natural gas storage facility in central city of Kashan, aiming to boost gas storage capacity by 3-4 billion cubic meters, ILNA quoted Iran Gas Storage Company managing director Masoud Samivand as saying.
The facility will be built at 2000-2500 meters depth and will have capacity to store 3-4 billion cubic meters of gas, he added.
Some 10 trillion rials (about $815 million) is needed to build the facility, he noted.
In November 2012, IRNA quoted National Iranian Gas Company Managing Director Javad Owji as saying that Iran will establish 40 gas storage facilities in the coming years.
Some 60-70 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas will be stored in the facilities as consumption is expected to rise in the future, Samivand added.
