Iranian administration to provide people with $300 mln in staple foods

The Iranian administration has allocated 7.5 trillion rials (about $300 million) to provide people with e-cards to buy staple foods, the Tasnim News Agency quoted government official Mahmoud Malakoutikhah as saying on January 19.

The administration has decided to provide people with staple foods in two stages. The first stage's budget has been secured, he explained.

The same sum will be allocated to run the second stage of the program, he added.

According to officials, the staple foods include two chickens, 10 kilograms of rice, two kilograms of eggs, a pack of cheese, and two liters of vegetable oil.

The staple food e-cards are projected to be handed over to people by February 4.
