Akhangarancement JSC (Akhangaran city, Tashkent region), the second largest cement producer in Uzbekistan, increased its cement production by six percent, to 1.62 million tons in 2013 compared to 2012, the enterprise told Trend on Jan.27.
The clinker production increased by 13 percent and amounted to 1.167 million tons in 2013, according to the JSC.
Additionally, the enterprise shipped some 1.614 million tons of cement (increase by six percent) to consumers in 2013.
The mining shop of the enterprise mined and transferred to production some 1.64 million tons of limestone which exceeds the figure of 2012 by 19 percent, the JSC said.
The plant of construction materials which is included in the JSC increased the production of ferroconcrete products by 1.7 times, to 33,014 cubic meters in 2013.
Akhangarancement JSC became operational in 1961. The production capacity of the enterprise amounts to approximately 1.8 million tons of cement via wet processes.
Russian Eurocement Group got a 75.6 percent share of Akhangarancement in August of 2006. The Russian company bought a 50 percent package previously owned by the Uzbek-Swiss Bentonite JV and a 25.6 percent share from the Swiss Zeromax GmbH.
Currently, the Russian company controls 83.67 percent of shares of the plant. Other shareholders are individuals.
Currently, six cement plants operate in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of about seven million tons. The largest plants are: Kyzylkumcement JSC (3.08 million tons), Akhangarancement JSC (1.8 million tons) and Kuvasaycement JSC (920,000 tons).
About 72 percent of the total volume of goods production in Uzbekistan's construction industry is in the cement industry.
Around 7.133 million tons of cement was produced in Uzbekistan in 2013, which is by 4.4 percent more than in 2012, according to Uzstroymateriali JSC.
