Political talks were held between the Turkmen and Russian foreign ministries in Ashgabat, the Turkmen government said on Nov. 4.
The Russian delegation was headed by Alexander Sternik, the director of the third department for the CIS countries.
Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. The need for strengthening regional and international security was stressed.
The agenda of the consultations included the further development of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, which is based on the principles of trust and mutual respect.
"While speaking of political cooperation, the two sides expressed their commitment to the further development of cooperation between the foreign ministries of their countries," noted a statement released by the government. "In this regard, both sides' desire to continue the positive bilateral cooperation among authoritative international organizations was stressed."
