ITU: Azerbaijan improves ranking on ICT development index (UPDATE)

Azerbaijan ranks the 67^th on the ICT Development Index (IDI) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), according to ITU's 'Measuring the Information Society Report' for 2015.

Thus, the country improved its position by three points on the IDI compared to 2013.

Azerbaijan's IDI, according to the ITU, was 5.79 in 2015.

Azerbaijan also ranked the 60^th among 170 countries in terms of average cost of ICT services.

According to the ITU, the average cost of ICT services in Azerbaijan was 1.4 percent of GDP per capita.

Penetration rate of fixed telephone communication in Azerbaijan is 18.87 percent, while the rate of mobile communication penetration is 110.90 percent, said the ITU.

The level of Internet penetration in Azerbaijan is 61 percent.
