Iran’s power output hiked by 2.7%

Power plants in the Islamic Republic generated 281.9 billion kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity over the last Iranian calendar year ended March 20, the country’s central bank suggested in its latest statistics.

The power output in the mentioned period increased by 2.7 percent year on year, IRNA news agency reported.

Gas and combined cycle power plants together produced 176.5 billion kWh of electricity in the mentioned period indicating a 3.7 percent growth year-on-year.

In the meantime, the output of hydroelectric power plants as well as diesel, wind and nuclear power plants decreased by 6.7 percent reaching 17.4 billion kWh.

This is while the country produced 58.4 billion kWh of electricity in winter (December 21, 2015 and March 19, 2016) indicating 4.8 percent fall year-on-year.
