Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 20

By Seba Aghayeva – Trend:

Bulgaria intends to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in all spheres and considers the country as a transit route to Central Asia, Nargiz Gurbanova, Azerbaijani ambassador to Bulgaria, told Trend Sept. 20.

Gurbanova said that Azerbaijan is also interested in entering the Bulgarian market and further to the European markets.

“Of course, a developed transport infrastructure is required to fulfill these intentions,” she said.

"Azerbaijan has great potential in the transport sector, delivering broad opportunities for Bulgaria to enter the Central Asian markets," the ambassador added.

The cooperation opportunities in the transport sphere will be discussed during the talks between the two governments during the next meeting of the Azerbaijani-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation in Baku in late September.

The Azerbaijani-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation was established in 1995.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $16.5 million in January-July 2016 compared to $6.6 million in the same period of 2015. Such an increase has been achieved through an increase in import operations by 2.5 times.
