Foreign investments increase in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector

The direct foreign investments worth $1.13 billion were drawn into the Azerbaijani non-oil sector in January-September 2016 or 20.8 percent of the total amount of direct investments drawn into the country, the balance of payments published by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.

The amount of those investments increased by 67 percent during the year.

In general, the direct foreign investments made in Azerbaijan's economy in the first nine months of 2016 reached $5.4 billion, which is 5.3 percent less than in the same period of 2015.

Some 79.2 percent accounted for the oil and gas sector in the structure of those investments compared to 88.2 percent in January-September 2015.

The direct investments worth nearly $2.1 billion were made by Azerbaijan to other countries in January-September 2016 compared to $2.6 billion in the same period of 2015.
