By Ali Mustafayev – Trend:

A total of 1,500 vehicles were imported from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan in January-August 2017, a source in General Motors Uzbekistan told Trend.

“Meanwhile, we expect to export more than 4,000 vehicles to Kazakhstan by the end of 2017,” the source added.

On average, 120,000-150,000 new cars are sold in Uzbek market each year, according to GM Uzbekistan.

“The September 29, 2017 decree of Uzbekistan’s president “On Measures to Further Streamline Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan” approved rates of customs duties for imports and excise tax rates for excisable goods imported to Uzbekistan. The rates of customs duties and excise tax cover the entire range of imported goods, including cars, and apply to all the importers without exception,” said the source.

GM Uzbekistan is a joint venture between the Uzbek state-run UzAvtosanoat OJSC (75 percent) and the American General Motors (25 percent). Presently, three production sites of the company produce 10 models of cars under Chevrolet and Ravon brands.
