Azerbaijan offers Jordan to establish a joint pharmaceutical factory, Jordan Economy Ministry said on Feb. 21.

Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev made an offer during the meeting with Jordan Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah in the framework of working visit to Jordan.

Azerbaijani minister noted that Jordan already exports pharmaceutical production to Azerbaijan. Export to other countries can be arranged as well after the establishment of the joint enterprise.

Azerbaijan and Jordan could also jointly produce agricultural equipment and foodstuffs in agricultural parks.

Jordanian companies could invest to industrial parks in Azerbaijan, free-trade zone in Alat settlement and establish cooperation with an Azerbaijani investment company, Mustafayev noted.

Both countries have large possibilities for cooperation in energy, tourism, transportation and healthcare spheres.

Talking about cooperation in tourism, the minister reminded that after the implementation of e-visa in Azerbaijan a number of Jordan tourists increased by 55 percent.

Mustafayev proposed to open Baku—Amman direct flight to expand the cooperation.

The minister also invited Jordan companies to take part in the Caspian Agro and the WorldFood Azerbaijan exhibitions to be held in Baku in May.

According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee’s data, the trade turnover with Jordan amounted to $6.65 million in 2017, 37 percent more compared to 2016.
