JSC "Uzbekistan Temir Yollari" (Uzbekistan Railways) in 2017 transported 21.59 million people, which is more by 630,000 passengers compared to 2016, the company said in a message.
In 2017, 67.93 million tons of cargo were transported through the Uzbek railways.
The annual freight turnover in 2017 amounted to 22.9 billion tons and passenger turnover - 4,293 billion passengers.
Last year, the Tashkent subway transported 61.9 million passengers.
According to the company, production enterprises of the industry produced products totaling 717.4 billion soums during the reporting period,.
Particularly, the new freight cars and passenger cars, spare parts and components were manufactured, as well as repair, reconstruction and modernization of the wagons were held.
In 2017, the railroad sector has opened 2,203 new jobs.
