Egg production grows in Turkey

In January 2018, 1.7 billion eggs were produced in Turkey, which is 5.8 percent more than in the same month of 2017, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a message March 13.

Egg production decreased 1.4 percent in January 2018 compared to December 2017, according to the message.

In January 2018, 104 million birds were used for the production of chicken meat, which is 10.5 percent more than in the same month of 2017, the message said.

“In January 2018, 464,000 birds were used for the production of turkey meat, which is 70.4 percent more than in the same month of 2017,” the message noted.

As many as 181,481 tons of chicken meat were consumed in Turkey in January 2018, which is 12.2 percent more than in January 2017, the message said.

“The turkey consumption stood at 5,225 tons in the country in January 2018, which is 87.1 percent more than in the same month of 2017, the message noted.
