Kuwait companies willing to invest in Uzbek economy

The Uzbek delegation headed by the special representative of the president of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held meetings and talks in Kuwait with First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Bin Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Sulaiman al-Sayyid, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan has announced.

“The Kuwaiti side expressed support for the far-sighted foreign and domestic policy of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and highly appreciated the social and economic reforms under his leadership,” the press service said.

The sides confirmed mutual interest in further development of cooperation.

The Kuwaiti side underlined that local companies are ready to invest in various spheres of the Uzbek economy.

The Uzbek side deems it important to organize the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Tashkent in July 2018 and the opening of direct flights between Kuwait and Uzbekistan.

The Kuwaiti side expressed gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan for its decision to apply a simplified procedure for issuing visas to citizens of Kuwait.

The sides also discussed certain areas of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, prospects for training Uzbek specialists in the Languages Study Center at the Kuwait University, as well as for sending teachers of the Arabic language for teaching in the educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
